One lab, several feeds

Ghostmaxxing does not push everything through one account. Each feed has a clear source or selection rule, so you can follow the parts of the project you care about without accepting a personalised recommendation system.

Transparent filters

These accounts are automatic views of @ghostyles. Their rules are encoded in their names and applied once for everyone; they do not profile individual followers.

How to follow an account

1. Open the search field in Mastodon or another Fediverse app.
2. Paste one complete address from the lists above.
3. Check that the account is hosted on ghostmaxxing.vecna.eu, then select Follow.

The first search may take a few seconds while your server discovers the account. These are public, automatically accepted follows: Ghostmaxxing does not manually approve followers.

From an experiment to a public post

1. You run an experiment in the browser. Running it does not, by itself, publish a recording or image.
2. If you explicitly choose to contribute a video or PNG image, the lab asks you to accept the current consent notice before it sends the file.
3. The contribution enters a private queue. A human moderator reviews it before anything becomes public.
4. If it is approved, Ghostmaxxing creates one public post. The same record can then appear on the web, in RSS, as an ActivityPub object and in followers' Fediverse timelines.

Approval is editorial, not a technical certification. A published result documents what happened in a particular test; it is not a promise that the same look will defeat every model, camera or deployment.

Your contribution and your control

A contribution does not require a Ghostmaxxing account and is not published under your name. Here, “anonymous contribution” means that the public post has no contributor account or byline; it does not mean that ordinary network data can never be processed by the web server or its infrastructure.

• Before you upload: work created in the lab is not placed in the moderation queue merely because you ran an experiment. Use the client controls to keep, download or discard it on your device.
• When you upload: the server receives the selected media, its submission type and consent version. A submission may also include its ghostyle identifier, app version, an optional note and experiment metrics.
• While it is pending: the original file is held for moderation. Pending media that has not been reviewed is automatically removed after 14 days. Rejected media is removed rather than published.
• If it is approved: video is transcoded and container metadata, including embedded device or location fields, is stripped before publication. PNG images are published as submitted, so remove sensitive image content or metadata before contributing one.
• Your deletion code: after an upload, the lab returns a unique secret code. Keep it somewhere safe. It is the credential that lets you remove that contribution while it is pending or after publication. Anyone who obtains the code can request that deletion, so do not publish it.

Deleting an approved contribution removes its post and media from Ghostmaxxing and sends a deletion notice to known followers. Federation is a form of distribution, however: another server or person may already have cached, copied or re-shared the material. No federated publisher can guarantee that every remote copy will disappear.

You do not need a social account to subscribe. Use the combined RSS feed, or replace all in that address with an account handle such as video, ghostyles, news or clipboard to receive only that stream.
